It can be assumed that the poor soil did not render big grain harvests around Dierhagen.

In 1585 an inventory list of the cloister Ribnitz stated that about 58 mares and 2 stallions were held in Dierhagen.

About 1850 Dierhagen was divided into 95 small holders' farms and 13 Hufen. The majority of farmers were living along today's "Neuen Straße". This street was called "Bauernreihe" in the past. The farmers had to improve or maintain their subsistence by fishing and hunting.
