Our waters are not covered by ice every year. Thus Ice Sailing is a sport which can not be performed every year. With the ongoing warming of the earth the periods of Ice Sailing are getting shorter and shorter.

The Ice Sailing was first mentioned about 100 years ago. Fishermen immigrating from Pomerania introduced a special kind of fishing on ice (fishing below the ice covered surface) in this area.
